We have a highly skilled and qualified team, dedicated to providing the children and families at Little Phoenix with a warm and safe environment that feels like home. All of our Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and assistants abide by the ECEBC Code of Ethics and adhere to the current Child Care Licensing Regulations.

I am very excited to join the Little Phoenix Child Care team! I have worked with children, youth and families going on 30 years, in Canada and Nairobi, Kenya, where I grew up. I went to Capilano University, where I completed the ECCE bachelor’s degree program. I have worked with a cross-cultural approach with all age groups in different childcare settings including some agencies that served target groups like Indigenous and new immigrant and refugee families and individuals. I was involved in developing some of the initiatives for these communities (especially the early learning ones).
A new space like Little Phoenix Child Care Centre brings back fond memories for me. The passion that I have for education, mentorship and advocacy for children and families was inspired by my first job, which was in another new centre. This was shortly after my first post-secondary studies, in hospitality management in Nairobi, Kenya. The facility was built by the SOS organization, which is the world’s largest orphaned child charity. It provides homes and guardianship to orphans, from age 0 to late adolescence. My role in the new facility was as its manager. It was designated as a hostel for youth aging out of the SOS Village homes. The highlight for me during this time was the fresh start that comes with a new space, without being bound by what has been.
I tell the story of the new centre at my first work place in the past, because visiting Little Phoenix took me back to that period. A period of new beginnings and endless possibilities, not just for the young people in our care, but also for those of us who were in their charge. Similarly, being at the Little Phoenix Child Care Centre and observing the preparations being done, I felt that sense of new beginnings, and endless possibilities, for all involved. I look forward to a collaborative partnership with all of our stakeholders. Read less.
