Will all children at little phoenix have trauma histories?
No, children at Little Phoenix come from a variety of backgrounds and family structures. All children and families are welcome; however, Little Phoenix is a UVic School of Child and Youth Care research and practicum site. Registration will require consent from the families to have their child participate in the research.
do applicants from north park neighbourhood get priority?
No, we assign child care spaces according to the date of application. Priority is given to those families who are eligible for the Affordable Child Care Benefit.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR ENROLLMENT AT LITTLE PHOENIX?
Children need to be 30 months old to enroll.

No, Little Phoenix only provides full-time care.
when is little phoenix open?
We are open 12 months of the year, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on all statutory holidays and at 3:30 PM on the third Thursday of every month for staff meetings.
HOW often do the children go outside?
Children at Little Phoenix will spend time outside every day, regardless of the weather. We have 1700 square feet of outdoor play area, 400 square feet of which is covered. Please ensure that your child arrives with weather-appropriate clothing.
Do the children ever go on field trips?
Yes, children go on regular outings and engage in community-based activities.
does little phoenix provide food?
No, children are asked to bring their own lunch and snacks.
can i visit the facility before registering?
Yes, you may contact the director to arrange an appointment before you register your child.
how much does child care at little phoenix cost?
The monthly fee for children 30 to 35 months is $1300, and $1000 for children from 36 months to 5 years of age. Check to see if you qualify for the Affordable Child Care Benefit here.
is there a discount if i have more than one child at the centre?
No, we are not able to reduce the fees for more than one child from the same family. All fees go towards the operation of our program.
what does my child need to bring with them to little phoenix?
Every day, children will need to arrive at school with weather-appropriate clothing, a backpack, a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. Children will also be asked to bring a change of clothes, indoor shoes, a blanket and a pillow to keep at the centre. Depending on your child's individual preferences and needs, they may also bring a stuffed toy or memento from home, diapers, wipes and cream.
DO i have to pay if my child is ill or on vacation?
Yes, in order to secure your child care space, it is required to pay the full monthly fees. This includes any period of time your child is away from the centre due to illness, vacation, and statutory holidays. All fees go towards the operation of our program.
how does little phoenix support children with special needs?
We are proud to have access to a professional team comprised of clinical counsellors and behavioural and occupational therapists who can provide the appropriate care and support for children with complex needs.
HOW do i withdraw from the program?
Parents must give written notice of withdrawal from Little Phoenix one full calendar month prior to leaving. It is required that your child withdraw when they reach the maximum licensed age for the centre (5 years).
