We are proud to offer the families in our community full-time day care for their children ages 30 months to 5 years. Our program incorporates and is guided by the vision, principles and areas of learning in the BC Early Learning Framework.
Curriculum
Our play-based curriculum is flexible and open-ended and caters to individual children's needs and interests. It aims to support and foster children's self-esteem, curiosity, creativity, emotional regulation and relationship-building skills. We prioritize establishing warm and trusting relationships between and among educators and children in order to create an emotionally safe space in which to learn and grow. We believe that through positive interactions and relationships with others, children at Little Phoenix will gain the confidence that allows them to construct knowledge and make meaning of the world around them.

What is trauma-informed care?A trauma and violence-informed approach understands different forms of trauma and violence and their long-term effects on people's health and behaviours. It embraces policies, practices, and a physical environment that minimizes the potential for harm and re-traumatization. An emphasis is given to creating environments and relationships that are predictable and provide a sense of emotional safety. A trauma-informed early childhood care centre like Little Phoenix creates opportunities for personal agency and positive connections with others, and maintains a strengths-based perspective while building the capacity for emotional regulation, stability and resilience.
